Dars-e-Nizami is the classical Islamic seminary curriculum developed by Mulla Nizamuddin Sihalivi (d. 1748 CE) from Firangi Mahal, near Lucknow, India. For over 300 years, this curriculum has been the standard of Islamic scholarship across South Asia and is now followed by thousands of madrasas worldwide — including in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and South Africa.
The curriculum begins with intensive Arabic language training — Sarf (morphology) and Nahw (grammar) — giving the student the linguistic tools to read original classical texts. It then advances through the core Islamic sciences: Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, and Aqaid — culminating in the Dawra-e-Hadith: the study of all six major Hadith collections (Sihah Sittah).

Curriculum
The science of Arabic word formation — root patterns, verb conjugations, and derivational structures. Without Sarf, reading unvowelled classical Arabic texts is impossible. The foundational first subject of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum.
Arabic sentence structure, I'rab (case endings), and syntactic analysis. Nahw is the grammatical key that unlocks the meaning of the Quran, Hadith, and all classical Islamic literature — studied across multiple years of the curriculum.
The science of eloquence and literary beauty in Arabic. Essential for understanding the miraculous linguistic nature of the Quran and the eloquence of Prophetic Hadith — studied at intermediate-advanced level in the programme.
Classical Quranic exegesis — context of revelation (Shan-e-Nuzool), abrogation (Nasikh wa Mansukh), and the legal and spiritual rulings extracted from each Surah by the major classical commentators.
The science of Prophetic narrations — chain of transmission (Isnad), narrator criticism (Rijal), classification by authenticity, and the principles of Hadith science. Essential for independent Islamic scholarship.
The six major Hadith collections in the Dawra-e-Hadith year: Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Jami' al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Nasai, and Sunan Ibn Majah — the pinnacle of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum.
Hanafi Islamic law covering all areas of practical life — prayer, fasting, Zakat, Hajj, marriage, divorce, business transactions, and inheritance. Studied through classical texts including Mukhtasar al-Quduri and Hidaya.
The theoretical framework of Islamic law — how rulings are derived from the Quran, Sunnah, Ijma, and Qiyas. Usul al-Fiqh trains the student to think like a Faqih and understand the methodology behind every ruling.
The science of Islamic belief — the attributes of Allah, Prophethood, the Hereafter, and scholastic theology (Kalam). Aqaid grounds the student in the correct beliefs of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.
